[World Design Capital (WDC)] is the city where the 21st century's design and the life of citizens coexist in harmony. Every two year, the International Design Alliance holds [International Competition for World Design Capital] and designates one city as the [World Design Capital] to promote the role of design in the 21st century in the world. Italy's Torino was designated as the pilot project city of [World Design Capital] for 2008 and Seoul was designated as the [World Design Capital] for 2010 as the first city that survived the official competition on Oct. 21, 2007.
Seoul Metropolitan government regards Seoul's designation as the 2010 World Design Capital as an opportunity to make the city a world-class design city and its determination is well demonstrated in the preparation programs that have been established after the designation.
